National Healthcare Decisions Day
April 16 marked National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD). NHDD's goal is "to provide clear, concise, and consistent information on healthcare decision-making to both the public and providers/facilities through the widespread availability and dissemination of simple, free, and uniform tools (not just forms) to guide the process." NHDD is "designed to raise public awareness of the need to plan ahead for healthcare decisions related to end of life care and medical decision-making whenever patients are unable to speak for themselves and to encourage the specific use of Advance Directives to communicate these important healthcare decisions." For more information about the national initiative, click here.
As part of this initiative and encouraging healthcare discussions, Leitch Law is extending our 50% reduction in fees for advance medical directives through the month of May. Leitch Law is the only NHDD participating organization in Lynchburg.
Advance medical directives capture your wishes regarding your medical care. An Advance Directive lets other people know the types of medical care you do and do not want in the event you are unable to express your wishes on your own. You may authorize another person to be your “agent” to make decisions for you if you become incapable of making informed healthcare decisions for yourself. You may also state what kinds of healthcare you want or do not want if you are determined to be unable to express your own wishes (often called a "living will"). This fee reduction is running through the end of May 2019. Please call, text, or use the form on this website to schedule a consultation.
